Located in Shinjuku’s lively entertainment district, BELLUSTAR TOKYO occupies the top floors of the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower. The Penthouse—which features five uniquely designed suites, three restaurants, and a spa—is a collaboration between Keiji Ashizawa Design and Norm Architects, furnished by Karimoku Furniture Inc. The blend of Japanese and Scandinavian sensibilities results in a soothing environment of soft earth tones, organic materials, and an aesthetic minimalism that offers respite from the neon billboards and bustling crowds of Japan’s capital city. Full-length windows fill the suites with light, and allow guests to enjoy panoramic views of the streets below.
As Herman Miller celebrate their centenary, Softer Volumes looks at some of their most recent collaborations; the newly updated Eames Turned Stool, the Luva Modular Sofa, and the Cyclades Tables. These pieces represent the company’s enduring spirit of creative endeavour, their dedication to innovative design, and the importance of both the brand’s history and its future.
